Cosy-Up Your Bedroom This Winter

During the colder, darker and wetter months of the year, your bedroom is often a safe haven in your home; a place to feel rested, relaxed and comfortable. Let us take you through a few helpful pieces of advice that could make your bedtime more relaxing and your sleep cosier this winter.

Light Up Your Life

A great first step to making your bedroom cosier in winter is to think about your lighting. With darker nights, there is more of a demand on lighting. Rather than simply have a strong, overhead light on, try using smaller, softer light sources such as fairy lights, energy-saving bulbs and candles. Fairy lights can provide a gentle illumination and can be wrapped around almost anything, from your bed headboard to a mirror or wardrobe.  Candles are a relaxing alternative to electric lights and can make a romantic addition to the bedroom for couples. Choosing scented candles is also a way of making the bedroom smell lovely. By having more gentle lighting in your bedroom, you can help yourself feel relaxed and wind down for the night as well as saving on electricity costs.

Stay Warm

While the temptation during winter may be to simply turn up your heating to full blast, being smarter with your heating in your bedroom can help you to still feel warm and comfortable without spending a fortune on bills! Using draft excluders around your doors or windows can help to keep your room insulated, whilst choosing a duvet with a higher tog rating can keep you cosy and warm whilst you sleep. Wearing more clothes while you sleep can help you to stay warm, especially wearing socks. Having cold feet is a common reason why people wake up in the middle of the night. Preventing this by wearing socks means a more restful and deeper sleep.

Choose the Right Mattress
