The Anatomy of a Good Night’s Sleep
For many, a mattress may seem like a fairly simple product to understand; it’s a soft surface that you sleep on! However, there is often a lot of thought and consideration that goes into the inner workings of a mattress before it comes anywhere near your pillows and PJ’s. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to talk about what goes into a Mattress5, how the different layers work, the materials used and the beliefs behind each choice. We’ll cover what we consider to be the most important considerations when designing a mattress; support, comfort, freshness, durability and buying process; while also giving a sneak peek into what makes Mattress5 so special.
Back support is crucial in the design of any mattress, so it helps to focus on this as the foundation on which additional materials and features are added. The basis of every Mattress5’s support lies in the foam-encapsulated pocket spring core, which not only conforms and adapts to each sleeper’s unique body shape and sleep patterns, but also provides reliable support right to the edge of the mattress. This allows us to guarantee effective and consistent back support in each Mattress5 that will keep you sleeping without discomfort for years to come.
We believe that no one mattress can provide the perfect level of firmness to suit everyone, which is why we offer a range of models that provide different degrees of firmness or softness based on the combination of fabric and foam layers on top of the core. The compressed fabric layers found in Firm But Fair and The Snoozer conform to your body shape to allow for a more restful sleep. These are also both double-sided, meaning you can flip the mattress every now and then to use both sides and keep your bed feeling bouncy, flexible and comfortable. The special ‘Zero Gravity’ layer in our Peach mattress gives an even softer and more flexible sleeping surface, without retaining as much heat as other polymer foam materials used in many mattress brands. This means that you get all of the comfort and softness of memory foam without overheating as you sleep.
Freshness & Durability
An important but sometimes overlooked consideration for any mattress design is its longevity, mainly the durability of the materials and lasting freshness. Our fabric layers are carefully selected for their quality and durability, which means that no matter what you get up to on your mattress (*ahem*), it’ll be a long time before you start to see or feel any wear and tear. We also make sure that every mattress in our range comes with a bioactive outer cover that keeps the mattress smelling fresh, as well as being hypoallergenic for those sensitive to dust and other allergens. Our ‘flippable’ mattresses, The Snoozer and Firm But Fair, have the additional advantage of being double-sided, so you can keep your sleeping surface fresher for longer. We think that by using these materials and design choices, the Mattress5 becomes an ideal choice for people looking for a high-quality mattress that will last for many years of happy sleeping before needing to be replaced.
Quality you can feel, before you buy
Our biggest belief here at Mattress5 is that everyone is not only entitled to the best sleep possible for them, but also that it should be affordable for anyone. Every one of our mattresses is handmade with care and attention to quality, before being shipped to our wide range of stockists across the UK. Mattress5 isn’t available online, because we believe that nobody can know which mattress is right for them from a picture and description alone.
We encourage all sleepers to visit their local stockist and ask to try out the Mattress5 range. You’ll get to feel the levels of firmness and decide which model is best for you, as well as getting excited about the great comfort and sleep you’ll soon be having!
